Critical current densities of polycrystalline YBa2Cu3Ox thin films in magnetic fields up to 9 t

Description

Since the discovery of the oxide superconductors their application in superconducting electronics is considered e.g. for interconnections between active superconductors (or semiconductor) devices. An important question is the current carrying ability of thin films in magnetic field with different orientation to the film surface. Up to date the highest critical current densities were reached in highly textured and/or oriented thin films with c axis perpendicular to the surface. However, weak superconducting connections between the granules may cause degradation by several orders of magnitude, depending on the intergranular coupling strength. In this paper the authors present results on transport critical current properties of granular YBa2CU3Ox thin films in magnetic fields up to 9 T, both perpendicular and parallel to the film surface
