Clinical significance of measurement of changes of serum CA153, SA, TNF-α contents after treatment in patients with breast cancer

Description
Objective: To detect the changes of serum CA153, SA, TNF-α contents both before and after treatment in patients with breast cancer. Methods: Serum contents of CA153, TNF-α (with RIA), SA (with Spectrophotometry) were measured in 32 patients with breast cancer both before and after treatment as well as in 30 controls. Results: Before surgery, serum levels of CA153, SA and TNF-α in patients with breast cancer were significantly higher than those in the controls (P<0.01). Six months after surgery, these levels dropped markedly to approaching normality (P>0.05). Conclusion: The serum contents of CA153, SA and TNF-α in patients with breast cancer were well related to the development and progression of the disease process. (authors)
