Individual monitoring for neutrons: practical measurements, ICRU recommended quantities and limited quantities

Creators

  • 1. Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The metrological properties of the new ICRU recommended quantities for individual monitoring are reviewed in the light of existing practice. Consequences for calibration procedures and for the relevance of monitoring results for radiation protection control are discussed. Response requirements for individual neutron monitors are stated and a formalisation for the direct entry of monitoring results into individual radiation exposure records is suggested. The expedience of the ICRU definition of the individual dose equivalent is thereby questioned. (author)
