Installation of an exited beam on 'Triton'. Industrial applications of neutron radiography (inactive pieces)
Description
After having recalled that, until the end of 1968, the CEA only possessed underwater neutron radiography installations which allowed samples of irradiated fuels to be examined, and outlined that it is difficult to make an underwater installation automatic, and that this issue makes industrial applications costly, the authors indicate that, for these reasons, the development of an exited neutron beam became necessary. They indicate the possible locations for such an exited beam, and describe the adopted solution (using the axial radial channel), and the filters arrangement. They briefly report dose measurements, and describe the neutron radiography experiment, report tests (defect detection in industrial components), discuss the foreseen improvements, and the possible applications and developments
