Far-infrared interferometer (lambda=447μm) for electron density measurements in plasmas

Description

This report deals with the development of CW FIR lasers (lambda=447 μm) and their application at interferometry for electron density measurements in Tokamaks. The problems of optically pumped FIR lasers are described. Results obtained with methyl iodide FIR lasers are given. The interferometre has been tested in the laboratory and results concerning bandwidth and sensitivity are given

Abstract (French)

Ce travail porte sur le developpement de lasers submillimetriques continus (lambda=447 μm) et leur application a la construction d'un interferometre destine a la mesure de la densite electronique des plasmas obtenus dans les Tokamaks. Les problemes poses par les lasers submillimetriques pompes optiquement sont decrits ainsi que les resultats obtenus avec des lasers a iodure de methyle. L'interferometre a ete teste en laboratoire et on donne les resultats obtenus, en particulier, en ce qui concerne la sensibilite et la bande passante
