Status of radioactive waste management in Korea

Description

This paper reviews the status of radioactive waste management in the Republic of Korea including management policy and scheme. Also included are the status and plan for the ongoing project: construction of a repository for low-level radioactive wastes, construction of an interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel assemblies, transportation of radioactive wastes, radioisotope waste management, and public acceptance program. Finally, the research and development activities being carried out by KAERI are briefly introduced
