Corrosion preventive facility for the structures of helium cooled reactors
Description
Purpose: To suppress oxidative corrosion of graphite materials in the reactor upon ruptures of cooling gas supply pipeways by eliminating intruding oxidative ingredients from air or a gas mixture of air and helium gas. Constitution: A bundle of rods readily oxidized to consume made of graphite, carbon, tantalum, copper or the like is kept at a room temperature during ordinary reactor operation. Upon accidents of primary coolant gas supply pipeways, these readily oxidizable rods are electrically heated directly by means of electrodes and reacted with oxidizing gases such as O2 in primary coolant gases.
