Radiation effect studies on pharmaceutical clotrimazole in solution

  • 1. Radiation Technology Development Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Certain pharmaceuticals like clotrimazole are reported to have prioritised under international monitoring programme for their occurrence in the aqueous environment remediation of clotrimazole in solution using gamma radiation has been tried. Clotrimazole an antimyotic were dissolved in acetonitrile. 20 ppm solution were subjected to gamma irradiation for different absorbed closes ranging from 2.0 kGy to 14 kGy. The irradiated solutions were analysed by GCMS using SHIMADZU GCMS QP2010 plus. The change in concentration of clotrimazole versus absorbed dose shows first order exponential decay of clotrimazole as absorbed radiation dose is increased. (author)
