Iron ion injection device into reactor coolant
Description
Purpose: To stably form iron ions and iron oxides at high concentration without degrading water quality of nuclear reactor coolants. Constitution: Electrodes made of carbon steels are disposed while spaced apart in a electrolysis vessel. Gaseous carbon dioxide is blown into pipeways for introducing reactor coolants into the electrolysis vessel to adjust the electroconductivity, for example, to 10 μS/cm. The liquids are introduced into the electrolysis vessel and a current, for example, at 8 A is applied to the electrodes. The liquids reaching the exit of the electrolysis tank are divided into two portions. About 20 % portion is sent to pipeways for injecting into reactor coolants, while remaining about 80 % portion is returned again to the inlet pipeway of the electrolysis vessel to conduct recycling operation. Thus, iron ions at high concentration, etc. can be stably formed as solids without degrading the water quality of the reactor coolants. (Seki, T.)
