Exploitation of analytical results in potassium-argon geochronology of vulcanites
Description
Two kinds of argon exist in the potassic minerals of vulcanites: radiogenic argon and allochton argon. If the atmospheric pollution is to be neglected, it is possible to plot a monogenic isochrone by analysis of a single sample with different preheatings (various temperatures and times). This monogenic isochrone gives same results (true age, isotopic composition of allochton argon) as the corresponding polygenic isochrone obtained from many cogenetic samples
