MicroRNome and DNA damage responses to chronic low-dose tritium exposures in vivo
- 1. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Ontario (Canada)
- 2. Institute of Nuclear Safety and Radioprotection, Paris (France)
Description
Tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen and a beta-radiation emitter, is a highly volatile by-product of nuclear industry that represents human health hazard. Biological effects of low doses of tritium and associated health risks are poorly studied and defined. However, the lack of excess DNA double-strand breaks in the same tissue suggests that miRNA profile changes need to be put in a physiological context for accurate interpretation with respect to genotoxic effects
