Maximum mutual solubility of two-component Mg-Ca systems (Sr, Ba, Ra, Eu, Yb)

Description
Present article is devoted to study of maximal mutual solubility of two-component Mg-Ca systems (Sr, Ba, Ra, Eu, Yb). Thus, we consider the solubility of magnesium in alkali earth metals in both liquid and solid states. The calculated values of the maximum solubility of magnesium with alkaline earth metals, as well as the crystal chemical analogs of alkali earth metals, europium and ytterbium have been obtained. The obtained values, as the atomic radius of the second component increases, decrease monotonically, obeying the Hume-Roseri rule. These results are scientifically based for the development and production of new magnesium based alloys. (author)
