Description

Cycle life at temperatures of 20 degC and 350 degC was evaluated for steel 10GN2MFA used in the production of reactor primary circuit pressure components. Microfractographic analysis of striations was employed to evaluate the lives in the initiation and growth stages of the fatigue process. It was found that the initiation stage represented 60 to 90% of the entire cycle life at both testing temperatures. The results obtained complete the present knowledge of mechanical metallurgy data concerning steel 10GN2MFA and contribute to the reliability of reactor pressure components produced from this steel.
