Thermionic properties of lanthanum hexaborite alloys with refractory compounds and nickel

Description
In the work described below a study was made of the thermionic emission properties of alloys of lanthanum hexaboride with some monocarbides of transition metals (TiC, NbC, and WC), titanium diboride (TiB2), and nickel. The alloying of LaB6 with various amounts (0.3 and 0.7%) of nickel produces LaB6 + Ni alloys whose thermionic emission characteristics do not differ significantly from those of LaB6, although it does lower the value of phisub(eff) by about 0.1 eV
