Description

CRIEPI makes a common study with JAERI (Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute) on ground investigations, earthquake measurements and vibration tests making JPDR the object of the verification of modeling and simulation technique for the response of comparatively soft grounds and structure during strong earthquake motion. This report describes the model of ground, the Geological features and the soil properties on the site near JPDR, which are effectively utilized for the appreciation of above mentioned vibration tests results and earthquake measurement results, and for the performance of numerical analysis. Tests performed in this researches are (1) physical properties tests (2) triaxial and cyclic triaxial tests and (3) in-situ elastic wave velocity tests. We clarified the dynamic deformation properties of undisturved sands and gravel, and proposed the model of ground. (author)
