A general overview is presented of the environmental radioactivity research in Hungary. The most important inspection systems, instrumentation and methods for radioactivity and contamination assessment are described briefly, for waters, soil, atmosphere, biosphere. Recommendation for future surveying systems and activities are given. (R.P.)
