Description
Calli from the inbred line Huangzaosi of maize in different subculture periods were irradiated with γ-ray of 0.5 ∼ 28.8 Gy. The growth rate of the calli and percentage of diploidy cells in the calli were reduced, and the frequency of aneuploidy cells and chromosomal aberration in the calli increases with increase of irradiated dose. On differentiation medium, calli irradiated with γ-ray produced less plantlets and more abnormal plantlets then control ones. On the analysis of types and frequency of chromosomal aberration in callus cells and abnormal plantlets, it is concluded that with γ-ray irradiation, the variation of regenerated plantlets could be increased and the range of variation could be enlarged
