Description

Methods of improving the boron autoradiography technique have been investigated. The track detector film has been examined in the transmission electron microscope to image individual tracks at much higher magnification than is possible by optical microscopy. In addition precipitate phases were extracted onto the film and identified by energy dispersive x-ray analysis. The precipitate boron contents were estimated by counting the number of tracks associated with them. Examination of the track detector film in the scanning electron microscope is also described.
