Tellurium extraction out of products of reprocessing of copper electrolyte slimes

Description

Solubility of crystal tellurium dioxide depending on the temperature and copper content in sulfuric acid solution was studied. Tellurium separation by nickel powder from technological solutions containing, g/l: 31 Cu, 7.3 Te, 230 H2SO4, proceeds with high extraction at temperature above 50 deg.C during 3 h at powder rate equal to 4-6 g per 1 g of tellurium. Cementate containing 24.5% Te and 28% Cu, when extracting 97.5% Te and 33.4% Cu from the solution, was obtained. The lower tellurium content in cementate, as compared to one obtained for cementation by copper powder, was related with the presence of ''inactive'' component, nickel oxide mainly, in used nickel powder
