The bonding of polyaramid fibres to rubber

  • 1. Loughborough Univ. of Technology (UK)
  • 2. Rubber Research Inst. of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

Description

Good adhesion can be obtained between polyaramid fibres and natural rubber by incorporating into the rubber either a diurethane vulcanizing system or a blocked diisocyanate. It has been discovered that the adhesion between vulcanized rubber/ polyaramid laminates can be enhanced by subjecting the composites to a critical radiation dose of > 25 Mrad. Some degradation of the strength of the rubber is observed to occur at this radiation dose. (author)
