The hidden perils of nursing safety in interventional operating room and its countermeasures

Description

Objective: To reduce and eliminate the hidden perils of nursing safety in interventional operating room and to discuss its countermeasures. Methods: During the period from Dec. 2008 to Dec. 2010, a total of 2123 interventional procedures were carried out in the operating room at authors' hospital The adverse events caused by safety problems that came from the patients or nurses were reviewed, the reasons were analyzed, and the countermeasures were suggested. In addition, the adverse events in nursing that happened during the period from Jan. 2011 to June 2012 in 2400 interventional procedures were summed up and the experience was summarized. Results: After taking appropriate nursing measures, the adverse events caused by hidden perils of nursing safety decreased distinctly. Conclusion: Through analyzing the reasons of the hidden perils of nursing safety in interventional operating room and taking appropriate countermeasures, the safety in interventional operation can be effective ensured, and the incidence of adverse events in nursing can be significantly reduced as well.
