Foundation of heating temperature while welding martensitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum-vanadium steels

Description
Kinetics of the austenite decomposition and mechanical properties of the metal of the heat affected zone are studied to determine optimal temperature of heating during the welding of billets made of the 18Kh2N4MA and 20Kh2M4MVFA martensitic steels with the thickness more than 100 mm. It is found out on the basis of investigation results of the austenite decomposition kinetics and mechanical properties of heat affected zone metal that the preliminary heating temperature during the welding of chromium-nickel-molybdenum-vanadium steel should not excess 100...150 deg C. The shielded arc welding using the consumable electrode along the narrow groove is expedient for such a steel
