Numerical investigation of a coarse-to-fine transformation for Multigrid Monte Carlo updating

Description
Results from the numerical investigation of a coarse-to-fine transformation constructed recently for Multigrid Monte Carlo updating algorithms are presented for four-dimensional U(1) lattice gauge theory on a (164, 84) hypercubical twogrid. The coarse-to-fine transformation rapidly maps the properties of 84 block lattice gauge field configurations to 164 fine lattice configurations. The results of extensive parameter optimizations are discussed and the implications for the feasibility of Multigrid Monte Carlo updating for U(1) and SU(2) lattice gauge theory are indicated.
