Examination of the age dependence of the salivary gland function by means of sup(99m)Tc scintigraphy

Description
Salivary gland function diagnosis using sup(99m)Tc-pertechnetate scintiphotographs with computer processing is described. Appropriate parameters for the numerical evaluation of activity profiles have been selected. In 49 healthy subjects belonging to different age groups the age dependence of the parotid function has been studied. The results obtained allow to exclude such a dependence. They are useful, however, in evaluating pathological changes of the parotid gland. (author)
