The use of Moessbauer spectroscopy of iron in clay mineralogy

  • 1. Hebrew Univ., Jerusalem (Israel). Dept. of Geology

Description

The present review is divided into two parts. The first is an attempt at a systematic presentation of the available data, including the assignment of the resolved doublets of spectra of naturally occurring and laboratory treated layer silicates, to establish the potential and the limitations of the ME as a fingerprint method. In the second part its use for interpreting structural features of the minerals is discussed. (orig.)
