Mechanized welding of small tubes with welding heads

The continual trend towards quality improvements constitutes the reason for further development in many fields including welding of small-diameter piping of between about 3-100 mm. A comparison has been made between all welding tongs available on the market, and a list of requirements drawn up for the best possible welding tongs. None of the tongs fully complied with the list, thus making certain further developments to the devices and programs necessary. Weld preparation, too, has a significant influence on the quality of the weld. The welds were subjected to non-destructive and destructive examination. (orig.)
