Synthesis and crystal structure of a tetra nuclear Cu(II) complex

Description

A novel tetra nuclear Cu(II) Schiff-base complex (C68 H100 Cu4 N4 O8) has been synthesized and its crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The complex crystallizes in triclinic space group P-1 with a= 24.6826 A0, b= 15.1397 A0, c= 19.6794 A0, α= 90, β95.160, δ = 90 degree. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that the Cu(II) atoms are linked by μ-phenoxo bridges from one of the phenolic oxygen atoms of each ligand.Each Cu(II) ion has a square-cubic geometry and the dihedral angles between adjacent Cu(II) basal planes are almost right angles. The intramolecular Cu----Cu distances are about the same.
