Description
Graphite intercalation compound of vanadium oxide fluoride has been synthesized in a fluorine atmosphere. Stage 2 to 15 compounds with composition of C15-105VOF4 (stage 2-11) and C<105VOF4 (stage 12-15) have been obtained. IR and XPS spectra indicate that the intercalated specie ate VOF3 and excess fluorine. X-ray and electron diffraction measurements for stage 2 samples have suggested that the intercalated VOF3 and fluorine take a monoclinic type unit cell between carbon sheets with stacking sequence of A/BA/B (A,B: carbon sheets, /: intercalated layer). The electrical conductivity is as high as 1x105 Scm-1 at stage 2 to 5
