Synthesis of zinc borohydride and its derivatives by mechanoactivation of alkali metal borohydride mixtures with zinc chloride

By the methods of chemical analysis, DTA and X-ray phase analysis and IR spectroscopy products of ZnCl2 reaction with MBH4 (M = Li, Na, K) after mechanic activation of the initial mixture have been investigated. It is shown that zinc chloride interacts with alkali metal borohydrides already at room temperature. As a result of the reaction zinc borohydride or its complexes with MBH4 are formed. Zinc borohydride and its complexes are isolated from mixture by means of dissolving in benzene or ethyl ether
