Lower critical field of RBa2Cu3O7 (R = Y, Ho and Gd) by low-frequency ac losses

Description
The lower critical field, Hc1, of grain-aligned RBa2Cu3O7(R=Y, Ho and Gd) has been determined down to 0.5 K by means of low-frequency ac-loss measurements. For all samples (R=Y, Ho and Gd) the observed Hc1-vs-T curves vary linearly with (dHc1/dT)Tc∝4 Oe/K for Hperpendicular toc. No detectable effect of the magnetic ordering of Gd at 2.2 K on Hc1 was observed. (orig.)
