Description
Gamow-Teller (GT) transition is the most common process in weak interaction, occurring due to the interaction of spin-isospin type. There is the component of spin-isospin also in strong interaction. The charge exchange reaction such as (3He, t) reaction behaves like reverse β-decay and is possible to express the relative intensity of GT transition, which enables the study on the transition to highly excited state. This paper introduces that a study on GT response is possible based on the measurement with the angle of 0 degree of the β-decay that occurs due to weak interaction and the charge exchange reaction that occurs due to strong interaction. It also introduces the use of isospin symmetry as a method to comprehensively consider the GT transitions from stable nuclei and unstable nuclei. In (3He, t) reaction, the resolution larger by one order than that in the conventional charge exchange reaction was obtained, which has come to reveal new phenomena about GT transition. Some perceptions were obtained about residual interactions within nuclei, which are necessary for understanding GT resonance state, as well as the mechanism by which low-energy super Gamow-Teller state, which is the 1+ state of the lowest excitation responsible for the majority of GT intensity, is formed. Thus, the overall image of GT response in a number of nuclei has gradually became clear. (A.O.)
