Accounts for the Environment 2006
Description
The environment is strongly affected by economic developments. In the environmental accounts, the interrelationship between economy and environment is described in detail. Because the environmental accounts are consistent with the concepts of the national accounts, it is feasible to directly compare the physical and monetary flows of the environmental economic system. The environmental accounts provide key indicators which give insight into the sustainability of economic developments. The integrated system can be used to quantify and analyse the causes of changes in environmental indicators. For example, the effects of changes in economic growth, environmental efficiency and international trade are quantified. De kwaliteit van het milieu wordt sterk beinvloed door economische ontwikkelingen. In de milieurekeningen wordt de relatie tussen de economie en het milieu beschreven. Doordat de milieurekeningen consistent zijn met de concepten van de nationale rekeningen kunnen de fysieke en monetaire stromen van het milieu-economische systeem direct met elkaar worden vergeleken. Uit de milieurekeningen kunnen dan ook kernindicatoren worden afgeleid die inzicht geven in de duurzaamheid van de ontwikkeling van het milieu en de economie. Het geintegreerde systeem biedt mogelijkheden de onderliggende oorzaken van veranderingen van milieu-indicatoren te kwantifi ceren en te analyseren. De effecten van de veranderingen in onder andere economische groei, milieueffi ciency en internationale handel kunnen hierdoor in cijfers worden uitgedrukt.
