Description
Hosur is an industrial town in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu with population about 1.9 lakhs in urban agglomeration. Red loamy and sandy soils are predominant soils in this region. In ceramic industry, zircon sand is a commonly used raw material, which contain excess radioactivity than surface soil. A study has been attempted to find out activity levels of U(nat.), 226Ra, 232Th and 40K and other radiological parameters in soils collected around Hosur area. The generated data can be served as baseline for this area for future comparison and epidemiological study purposes if when it is required
