Description

Speakers talked about the potential and state of development of renewable energy in China. We have also heard about policy approaches in India, Italy and China. The key elements of this presentations are following. Energy demand in China is growing rapidly; the associated GHG emissions are likely to follow the same trend; these elements create an opportunity for more renewable energy; there is a huge potential for renewable energy in China namely: biomass, wind, solar, geothermal and tidal. Many niche markets exist for these renewable sources; barriers were mentioned for more renewable energy in China like relative high cost of renewable energy, lack of access to technology, lack of policy measures.
