Optical and physicochemical properties of α-LiIO3 monocrystal

Description

The optical spectra of α-LiIO3 in 0.06-25 microm region and Raman spectra were analyzed with the Kramers-Kronig method. Evidence of moisture adsorption by the monocrystals was obtained from the data on the absorption coefficient of α-LiIO3 perpendicularly and parallel to the c-axis for the edge of the fundamental absorption band. The electron spectrum of α-LiIO3 was similar to that of perovskite. Calculated in multiphonon approximation the epsilonsub(1) dispersion in the infrared spectral region parallel to c-axis coincided with the empirical value of epsilonsub(1), obtained by the Kramers-Kronig method from reflection spectra measurements. The difference in the intensity, position and the number of reflection bands in the spectrum of α-LiIO3 perpendicularly and paralled to c-axis accords with the concept of the deformed nature of octaherdal complex (IO6)
