Description
Catcher bearing is the auxiliary support structure for the magnetic-bearing and turbine rotor system, which is the safety guarantee for the system operation and the key and difficult technology in the design of the magnetic-bearing and turbine rotor system. This paper presents the analysis of impact simulation of the HTR-10 vertical magnetic suspension rotor in early design phase, by dropping into the catcher bearing with MSC.Dytran software. The results indicate that if the carbon fiber is designed for the buffer layer structure, the AMB may be damaged, so alternative material shall be considered. The rotary attitude of the vertical magnetic suspension rotor plays a vital role in the performance of the catcher bearing. (authors)
