Proceedings of the Indian conference on carbon materials: book of abstracts

Carbon-based materials have shown great versatility because they can have wide range of structures and properties based on different hybridization and bonding nature. As a result, they exhibit excellent characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivities, retention of strength at high temperature in inert atmosphere and stability under irradiation. Though the research on carbon based materials started centuries ago, the interest has renewed with the advent of newer and exotic forms of carbon. Worldwide leading researchers are working on the science and technology of carbon based materials. In India, various national laboratories and institutes have dedicated research programmes on carbon including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre who is the host of this conference. Starting from graphite to carbon-carbon composite to carbon nanomaterials, India requires indigenous technologies for their use at high-end applications. Papers relevant to INIS are indexed separately
