The article is the text of the lecture prepared by the author for the Czechoslovak-Austrian symposium dedicated to one of the creators of quantum mechanics, Erwin Schroedinger. The author recollects his personal and professional contacts with professor Schroedinger, under whose supervision he worked at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Dublin in 1948/1949. (Z.J.)
