Description

Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) is determined after intravenous injection of red blood cells labelled with Technetium 99m. The formula F=V.100/average t.M is used with V: regional cerebral volume, average t: mean transit time in the region, M: regional cerebral weight. Average t is evaluated after deconvolution of the regional cerebral curve of the first passage upon the left ventricular input function. V and M are obtained at equilibrium with single photon emission computed tomography (ECT). Functional, parametric images of mean transit time, blood volume and rCBF are generated
