Description

The Photon Multiplicity Detector (PMD) is a pre shower detector proposed to be used in ALICE, an LHC experiment at CERN. The aim is to measure photon multiplicity and provide estimates transverse electromagnetic energy. It will address physics issues like flow, fluctuations in multiplicity and transverse energy, rapidity distribution of photons and would also aid in the probe of disoriented chiral condensates
