Measurement of proton polarization in the #betta#p → pπ0 reaction with a linearly-polarized photon beam

Description

Results are presented on measuring the Psub(xz) component of the polarization vector of recoil protons from the reaction #betta#p→pπ0 in a photon linearly polarized beam, the polarization vector forming the angle of 45 deg with the reaction plane. The experiment has been performed at π0-meson c. m. production angle THETAsub(#bettaπ#sup(0))*=60 deg and photon energy Esub(#betta#)=(0.8-1.5) GeV. The polarization energy distribution data show the minimum at Esub(#betta#)=0.95 GeV and a maximum at Esub(#betta#)=1.25 GeV. The results are compared to the theoretical predictions
