Description
The chemical requirements for chemical decontaminating reagents are reviewed in the light of recently acquired knowledge about the composition of the radioactive oxides which form on the circuit surfaces of water reactors. Consideration is also given to the need for good corrosion performance and ease of waste handling. It is now possible to choose a reagent system for a particular cleaning operation on the basis of a sound understanding of its interaction with the oxides present. (author)
