Analytical model for the neutralization probability in slow ion-surface collisions

  • 1. Institute of Physics, P.O. Box 57, 11001 Belgrade, Yugoslavia

Description

A complex-energy Demkov-like model is proposed for the description of the oscillatory neutralization probability in slow ion-surface collisions. The model allows exact solution in the zero-impact-parameter approximation. Both elastic and inelastic (neutralization) channel probabilities are calculated in closed form. The elastically scattered fraction of He+ ions, colliding with Ga, Pb, and Sn surfaces, is calculated and good agreement is found with the existing experimental data
