Description
For the upgrade project of the straight sections at the Photon Factory storage ring (PF ring), a reconstruction was carried out during the period from the 28th February to 20th September 2005. In this period, the installation of new quadrupole magnets and the precise alignment of the magnets together with the existing magnets were conducted using a laser tracker system and a leveling scope. As a result, the magnets were aligned with a tolerance of 100μm RMS for both of horizontal and vertical direction, and 200μm RMS for longitudinal direction. The precise alignment enabled us to realize the small closed orbit distortions (CODs) less than ±5mm without any corrections at the first stage of the beam commissioning
