A radiation detector
Description
A radiation detector for beta radiation, the detector including an enclosure having a membrane surface that allows beta radiation to pass through it whilst preventing external light becoming incident upon a photo-detector. The photo-detector is arranged to detect ionizing radiation and may be formed upon a common substrate with means to amplify the detection signals. The photo-detector may be an infra-red photodiode. The membrane surface may be supported by a gauze. The radiation detector may be used in a battery powered dosemeter. (author)
