Description
Regarding the progress of the utilization technology of energy resources and its research state in 2016, this paper reviewed the following items related to nuclear energy: (1) nuclear power and future energy supply and demand, (2) nuclear fuel resources (characteristics of nuclear fuel resources, uranium resources and production quantity, and nearly end of uranium supply excess age), (3) current state and future prospects of nuclear power generation, (4) situation of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS accident and situation of nuclear power development after the disaster, (5) nuclear fuel cycle and radioactive waste disposal (shallow burial disposal, medium depth disposal, and geological disposal), (6) environmental impact of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS accident and waste treatment/disposal, (7) nuclear facility decommissioning measures, and (8) decommissioning at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.
