How much technology is agreeable with mankind?

The author of this contribution to the Herrenalb Seminar describes an energy supply system that is capable of practically endlessly delivering to the human population the energy wanted, and environmentally compatible and highly efficient energy at that: With reactors of the breeder type, the nuclear power is an undepletable resource, and also is solar energy which, for example in desert regions of the earth, can be collected by large installations. Electricity, however, is a power not suitable for all purposes, as an aircraft propellant for instance, so that hydrogen is the potential supplementing energy source. Realisation of such an efficient infrastructure in the power sector will however require investments that are higher by a factor 5-10 than the present financial expenditure in this field. It is recommended to use the profit made not merely for swelling up consumption, but rather for investments of the kind mentioned. (HSCH)
