General covariance is incompatible with the concept of elementary systems

Description
The general coordinate transformations are associated with an infinite dimensional Lie algebra. It is shown that for a general class of representations there is no Casimir operator in this algebra. Therefore the general coordinate transformations do not allow elementary systems
