Study of physical parameters of the chain of detection of Tritium at Madagascar-INSTN

This study is the continuation of the previous works on the MADAGASCAR-INSTN tritium line, in order to improve and optimize the results of the determination of tritium in water. The survey is based on the operation of each material used for each step of the tritium detection and the impacts of changes in physical parameters related to each material on the analytical performance. The study we have made allowed us to evaluate the results and yields for each step of the tritium line detection: the results showed that (i) the distillate yields and their tritium concentrations are above 95% (ii) the volumes of water reamining in each cell for the electrolysis is about 17 mL except for cells No.6 and No.7, indicating a good electrolysis performance (iii) the average yield of the tritium concentration from the neutralization is 98.14% (iv) better results are obtained from counting if the operating conditions are fulfilled (room temperature below 16C) and the cocktail volume is 12 mL instead of 10 mL. We found that the methods used for the detection of tritium in Madagascar-INSTN are very effective. The expected results are achieved. However, they can be improved by minimizing errors for each step.

Ce present travail est la continuation des precedents travaux sur la ligne tritium de Madagascar-INSTN dans le but d'ameliorer et d 'optimiser les resultats de la determination du tritium dans l'eau. L'etude s'articule sur le fonctionnement de chaque materiel utilise pour chaque etape de la chaine de detection de tritium et les impacts de variation des parametres physiques lies a chaque materiel sur les performances analytiques. L'etude que nous avons faites nous a permis d'evaluer les resultats et les rendements obtenus pour chaque etape de la ligne de detection de tritium: (i) les rendements des distillats et leurs concentrations en tritium sont superieurs a 95% (ii) les volumes d'eau restant dans chaque cellule pour l'electrolyse sont environ 17 mL a l'exception des cellules no.6 et no.7, indiquant une bonne performance du systeme (iii) le rendement moyen de la concentration du tritium de la neutralisation est de 98,14% (iv) le comptage donne un meilleur resultat en respectant les conditions de fonctionnement du compteur (temperature de la salle de comptage inferieure a 160C) et en chosissant un volume de cocktail de 12mL au lieu de 10 mL. Nous avons trouve que les methodes utilisees pour la detection du tritium a Madagascar-INSTN est tres efficace. Les resultats attendus sont atteints. Cependant, de meilleurs resultats pourraient etre obtenus.Additional details
