Influence of radiative cooling and non-ideal heat transfer on TL glow curves: studies using clamped/exponential heating

Description
The influence of radiative heat loss and temperature lag between gas and disc temperature arising due to non-ideal heat transfer on TL glow curve is studied. The study has been carried out using the CaSO4:Dy based TLD badge and the TL glow curves are recorded using hot gas TLD badge reader. The difference between the temperature of the heating gas and disc during recording of TL glow curve is predicted theoretically and same have been verified experimentally. It has been found that initially the temperature difference between gas and disc can be as high as 100 deg C and after 10 s of heating cycle, it is approximately constant having a value of about 35 deg C. It is also observed that due to the presence of radiative heat loss and non-ideal heat transfer associated with the disc, wider glow curves with reduced peak height are obtained and the glow peak maxima shifts toward higher side in time
